Some people are like being "blown-by-the wind,'' and have little control over their own lives. In some cases, a lack of self-discipline, creates negative situations where a person becomes their own worst enemy. Under these circumstances, there is often an attraction to gangs, illegal drug or alcohol use, and other self-inflicted damages such as overeating to become obese. There is also a tendency to seek instant gratification, like too much screen time, requiring no self-discipline or work to acquire.
To have a happy, healthy, & productive life, it may be necessary to acquire self-discipline to achieve those things of real benefit, long-term. Achievement of self-discipline may soon be acquired, in most cases, by taking the following actions:
a) Set achievable goals and make realistic plans.
b) Remove temptations and distractions.
c) Identify your strengths and weaknesses.
d) Increase your physical activities and also provide some meditation time.
e) Practice self-discipline and learn from your mistakes.
f) Enlist support from family, friends, teachers, coaches, and others.
g) Divorce yourself from gangs with negative influence(s).
h) Create a supporting peer group and seek their support.
i) Shift mindset.
In extreme cases, when willpower is lacking, a behavior modification coach should be employed to help you achieve self-discipline.
It is a proven fact, you are or, will make yourself to be, the product of your self-discipline efforts on a sustained basis.
