For Charities
☐ Offices and facilities should be located in easily secured areas.
☐ All personnel and providers should be well known to administrators, or well vetted to confirm their backgrounds.
☐ Communications need to be secure and cybersecurity provided.
☐ Use email providers that are not easily compromised.
☐ Alternate communications, such as walkie-talkies, are suggested.
☐ Establish and practice emergency evacuations to known safe sites.
☐ Harden structures and facilities with security doors and protected windows to prevent entry via window openings.
☐ Install good security cameras providing total coverage & alarm 24/7.
☐ Establish rapid contact means with local law enforcement.
☐ If possible, create a neighborhood watch/ alarm network.
☐ For extreme threats, train personnel in survival, escape, & evasion.
☐ Secure all communications and records keeping hard copy & computer records at two controlled locations.
☐ Monitor public alert announcements from FBI, OHS, and Border 911.
☐ Acquire and sustain good insurance coverage on all assets.
☐ In high threat areas, a safe room or rooms should be provided for staff.
☐ Vary travel times, means, and routes if threats to personnel are known.
☐ Secure your mail box or use USPS postal boxes and varied times of mail collection.
☐ Train and coach personnel on security matters and build confidence in security measures taken.
