A number of states, with most being communist nations, have failed for similar and extractive reasons well documented by historical events. The typical reasons follow:
a) Power to a very few b) Weak government c) Greedy elites
d) No property rights e) Freedoms denied f) Poor services
g) Lack of innovation h) No checks & balances i) Forced labor
j) Economic stagnation k) Wealth concentration l) Social chaos
m) Corrupt government plans n) Attacks on religion o) Conflicts/ fights
p) Battles for "spoils" q) Democide (mass murder by government)
In a democracy, such as the U. S., the added signs of failure are political gridlock and creation of massive debts for future generations as well as sustained armed conflicts;
e. g. Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, ISIS, and drug cartels. Desire for expansion may also be a cause of state failure such as Russia's attack on Ukraine to gain territory. Religion
may also be a reason of state failure; e. g. the Islamic Wahhabi actions to kill all of the
world's non-Wahhabi and Iran's desire to destroy Israel. Historically, ethnic conflicts have destroyed nations as in the case of the Viet's 100-year war to destroy the Champa Empire.
A desire for global domination also destroys nations. The best example is PRS's (China's) subversive actions and terrorist attacks, using CCP (Chinese Communist Party) terrorist
teams to achieve global domination.
Man has yet to create a perfect government with sustained good performance for all.
