Joseph Stalin, leader of the USSR 1929 to 1953, suffered very extensive neglect, abuse, and trauma as a child. He had low self-esteem reported to be from a physical deformity. As a result, he was afflicted with paranoid psychosis and became a sociopath with severe mental disturbances. Stalin was suspicious of all persons around him and committed brutal acts w/ no empathy for his victims.
As an active and leading member of the Bolshevik Party, Stalin became leader of USSR after Lenin died in 1924. He created 5-year plans for manufacturing that resulted in severe shortages of goods. In addition, Stalin forced the creation of large collective farms that had much lower crop production causing some starvation. To eliminate all those he distrusted, he stated a Great Purge Policy resulting in democide (murder by government) of over 20 million USSR citizens. Several millions more Russians were confined to forced labor camps.
By ruling with an iron fist, Stalin was able to organize a USSR military effort that helped to defeat Nazi forces during World War II. Using the same type of "drive," he expanded USSR's influence and control into Eastern Europe. Stalin died on 05 Mar 1953 as Premier of the very powerful Soviet State he had formed How infants are reared does have an impact on our future history on this planet we call Earth!!
