Bayer-Monsanto paid lobbyists $9 million to persuade POTUS Trump to create and sign an Executive Order, on 18 Feb 2026, to expand the Defense Production Act of 1950. The objective of this order was to fully protect Bayer-Monsanto from legal damage claims from continued manufacture and sale of the herbicide Roundup with glyphosate.

Glyphosate has been declared a probable carcinogen by the WHO and Bayer-Monsanto had already paid $11 billion in court ordered damages for proven cases of Roundup causing users to be inflicted with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Over 80 percent of commercial foods that were made from corn or soy have been scientifically tested, using random samples, and the foods all had potentially harmful levels of glyphosate. Sales of Roundup have therefore now been made illegal by most nations.

Section 707 of the Defense Production Act was used to justify subject Executive Order w/ the claim that Roundup is essential to control weeds in crops, corn and soybean crops in particular, and essential for U. S. national security. Thus, Bayer-Monsanto was given absolute protection against future damage suits based on cancers caused in users of their Roundup herbicide with glyphosate.

Rodale Ag Research Institute and other agricultural researchers have proven that such harmful "chemical farming" is not sustainable and less productive as well as less profitable than farming by organic means. Moreover, there are now good organic options to control weeds in corn, soybean, and other crops. In brief, the lobbyists helped Bayer-Monsanto "scam" POTUS Trump directly and the American public indirectly.
