The U. S. has done a great deal of good we should all know. In addition, we must know the bad to avoid repeating our mistakes. Here are some examples of the bad in my opinion:

a) Failure to have term limits for members of Congress allowing it to become a retirement home for career politicians seeking to use their office for insider trading and political gain.

b) Allowing open borders for uncontrolled entry of poorly educated, unskilled illegal migrants to include gang members, criminals, terrorists, narco-terrorists, human traffickers, & persons with major health issues.

c) Failing to deter Dems from providing the above illegals with massive benefits in the hope of getting them to vote early and for Dem candidates Dems are seeking to elect to create a one-party government.

d) Not stopping sanctuary cities and states from sheltering and supporting illegal migrants.

e) Allowing weaponization of our legal system and federal agencies in attempts to prevent Trump from being elected again as POTUS.

d) Failure to effectively deter the rioting, looting, burning, and killing by BLM and Antifa.

e) POTUS Biden's total fiasco in the U. S. evacuation of Afghanistan and donation of $83 billion of our modern military equipment there to the Taliban terrorists.

f) Thinking and acting in a lengthy & costly failed attempt to make a tribal state, ruled by regional drug lords, into the functioning democratic state of Afghanistan.

g) Assuming we could create an effective Afghan army using Afghan males who had little to suffer if the Taliban came back to power.

h) Allowing Islamic favoring POTUS Obama to bring 80,000 Somali (with many being jihadists) into the U.S., taking actions to benefit ISIS, and placing members of the Muslim Brotherhood (mostly jihadists) into nearly every federal agency.

I) Engaging in a war against Iraq using the excuse that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction when he had none. Moreover, the Iraqi military forces were needed to keep Iran in check.

j) Ignoring Iran's support for terrorist organizations and believing bribes would deter Iran from making nuclear bombs and obtaining missiles to deliver them to bomb selected targets.

Iran named their targets, Israel and the U. S.

k) Making a civil war in Vietnam an armed conflict of the "Cold War," and using conventional tactics in a failed attempt to win an unconventional war. Declaring the jungle as an enemy and killing the neutral jungle with toxic Agent Orange. A false belief that bombing & artillery would win the war when communist forces were safe in underground facilities they made.

l) Failure to keep promises; e. g. 1) POTUS JFK's false promise to provide U. S. air and naval support for Cuban volunteers forming the "Bay of Pigs" invasion force; & 2) POTUS Truman's support of French re-colonization of Vietnam. Tuman had promised the Viet leader, Ho Chi Minh, that the U. S. would not do so if the Viets helped defeat Japanese occupation forces during WW II.

m) Woke sabotage of USAID efforts diverting priority from critical food aid and essential entrepreneurship training, with funds for new business starts, so youth in developing nations could start their own enterprises when jobs were lacking.

n) Inaction can also be bad policy; e. g. POTUS Joe Biden's failure to take any serious action to deter Russia's unjustified armed invasion of Ukraine.

I could continue, but you get the idea. To be fair, I will soon create a list of all the good the U. S. and Americans have accomplished. As noted above, my goal here is to openly admit our failures and seek to avoid repetition in the future.
