The addition of upwards of 18 million illegal migrants added to the present significant problems of thousands of our military veterans and other Americans being homeless.
Ticketing, fining, incarceration, and destruction of homeless tent camps has only made
homeless issue more hopeless. Some communities expended millions of dollars to give shelter to illegal migrants. One or more sanctuary churches had their members hide &
shelter illegal migrants. Americans who were homeless received far less support.
Assistance for the homeless, to reduce their numbers, requires assistance and support
services, resolution of health and disorder issues, job training & employment, prevention
strategies, temporary shelter, food allowances, and prevention strategies. A few cities are
constructing mini-house communities for the homeless while also adding support services
for the homeless so sheltered. Housing assistance is provided by HUD, VA, HHS, USICH,
and the Salvation Army. Innovative plans to shelter and otherwise assist the homeless are
being explored.
One new concept, to shelter the homeless, is to provide health screening and vetting of Americans who are homeless and place them with sponsor retired couples still living in
homes larger than their current needs. Support services would then be arranged for those
previously homeless persons so sheltered. In the case of illegal migrants, the focus is on
deportation. However, in areas with labor shortages there are employers and prospective
employers who might shelter and employ stable illegal migrant family groups after being
fully vetted and health screened.
Over 80 percent of illegal migrants are reported to be single males with many being members of gangs, criminal organizations, and/or terrorist groups. Some of these men have been raping and killing Americans. A strong vetting program is needed to identify those men
that should not be provided shelter, and must be deported for national safety.
