During the Vietnam War our troops and their military commanders did not discover how to successfully operate in the jungle. Although the jungle was neutral, our military decided the jungle was the enemy & elected to kill the jungle with a double-spraying, once with 2,4-D and a second time with 2,4,5-T. Then they decided to mix the two herbicides without testing to only spray one time. The 2,4,5-T was contaminated with the very hazardous chemical that Monsanto failed to remove because removal was very expensive. POTUS LBJ reportedly approved killing the jungles of S. Vietnam.
Killing the jungle, and the wildlife in the jungle, was a useless benefit since communist Viet Cong and other communist forces were in underground facilities they had developed. The plan to bomb and use artillery to kill communist forces moving in jungle killed areas was not realistic. Moreover, the communists were only moving at night under portable camouflage, so they had a double-layer of protection. The spaying by the double-herbicide known as Agent Orange was a huge "blunder" and a total waste of funds.
A friend, Howard A., spent his entire USAF tour in S. Vietnam loading USAF spray aircraft with Agent Orange. As a result, the rest of Howard's life was consumed with one major illness after another as a result of dioxin poisoning. His two sons are Dioxin babies living w/ horrific genetic modifications. The son I know best, Brian A., has web-toes, obesity, ADHD, and mental dysfunction such as having no ability to solve even a simple math problem. For 2-years, the VA claimed that dioxin babies were only the offspring of mothers having extensive exposure, in S. Vietnam, to Agent Orange. This lie was created for the VA to save on dioxin disability payments. In Brian's case, and similar cases, their father's sperm and production means for future sperm was contaminated with dioxin.
There are thousands of dioxin babies in Vietnam because the dioxin contamination was so extensive and long lasting. When Vietnam filed a legal action seeking damages, Monsanto did not have to pay any damages due to claims Monsanto bribed the judge. South Korea made similar dioxin damage claims due to Korean health problems caused by Agent Orange spraying of the Korean DNZ. S. Korea won that case.
At times, I have truly marveled at the extreme ignorance of our civilian and military leaders!!
