CO2 is the major greenhouse gas solar heated above earth to cause global warming. As we suffer loss of more forest areas, more CO2 is produced. The other events causing CO2 increases are;
a) Burning of fossil fuels to produce heat, cooling, and electricity.
b) Use of fossil fuels to power cars, trucks, buses, trains, ships, and planes.
c) Cutting of timber/ deforestation.
d) Manufacturing of cement, iron, steel, electronics, plastics, and clothing.
e) Assorted agricultural activities to include fuel for tractors.
The CO2 sinks we have to capture & hold this greenhouse gas are plants & oceans. Our oceans are increasing in size because global warming is melting glacial ice, but this is a very harmful and incomplete solution. My charity, NPI, is assisting in making desert lands (1/3rd of all lands) capable of extensive plant growth as explained in NPI's counter-desertification info on this NPI website. This posting is to explain why NPI seeks to teach growing of plants on desert lands in addition to food security and environmental goals.
We also need to deter deforestation now producing 4.8 million tonnes of CO2 yearly by the annual deforestation of 10
Please help to promote NPI's counter-desertification efforts!!!
