Weaponization of bacteria and/or viruses, to directly or indirectly attack other nations, is
known as bioterrorism. Gain-of-function research, such as what the U. S. funded in a Wuhan, PRC (China) lab. The COVD virus was obtained from a bat and upgraded to create COVID-19. In all probability the release of COVID-19 could have been intentional. Other viruses having some potential for weaponization to kill people include anthrax, botulism, Ebola, tana pox, and smallpox as well as tularemia and hemorrhagic fever. If the objective is to kill food crops to create a starvation crisis, plant diseases would be weaponized.
Defenses against any bioterrorist attack needs alerts to warm of attacks on our population or food crops and/or livestock. Supporting policies are needed along with creation of training, preparation, and development of response capabilities. Part of this means was provided for in the U. S. 1999 Bioterrorism Preparations and Response Law. A national stockpile is needed to have emergency supplies of drugs, assorted vaccines, antitoxins, and diagnostic tools. The public needs to be educated on signs and symptoms of a bioterrorism attack without creating a public panic.
On the family level, every family needs to prepare for the possibility of sheltering at home,
having emergency communication options and responding to any threat according to public health instructions. The bioterrorism threat is real, and two Chinese illegals were recently found in an attempt to bring bioterrorism agents into the U. S.
